This was probably made for a Japanese audience, not a "more western" one. It will probably be the same if you show something you find amusing to Japanese, they will think it stupid.

And you should see the site Nico Nico Douga, which the person introduces. I had to make an account to look inside, but I deleted it immediately because I couldn't stand having to see the stupid, unintelligent comments posted by Japanese. I'm Japanese, but I have no idea what is good about Japanese modern culture.
