I can see what you're saying. Big names like blizzard tend to lose their originality... but they stay famous just because of their reputation.
However, you have to admit that diablo 1+2, starcraft, and warcraft were excellent games nevertheless. This one archetype will hopefully stop :(

I love this ending.
Arthas gets what all men truely want deep down. He becomes the most powerful person in the world. He defeats all his enemies, and becomes king. And he gets a kickass-looking helmet.
And what is the result?
He spends his eternal life ruling over a land of ice and death, his own actions having helped destroy his people and everything he used to care about.
Totally epic.

It's an RTS with RPG elements. You can't tell me that Magtheridon didn't count as a dungeon boss.

I'm starting to hate blizzard's storylines, they always have the same spin:
Ultra evil dude, once on the good side. (Look at Kerrigan in Starcraft, now being propped up as the "Main villainess" in SC2, once on the "Good Guys" side).
Arthas "Once on the good guys side" etc... just repeat repeat. I think blizzard is dying.

If you read the lore, then you understand the whole back story. I love the lorebooks: for a good starting place for the Horde, I reccomend Rise of the Horde by Christie Golden. She's also written the dated-later prequel to that, Lord of the Clans. They are about Thrall's sire and Thrall, respectively to their own books.
All of the lore books are good, haven't read a bad one. I enjoyed them so much I read the Starcraft novels- the only one I didn't like was The Shadow of the Zel'Naga.

The Frostmourne Statement is accurate but the leak was small enough to let his conquest of northrend to help him survive. But when Illidan launched the earthquake at Northrend the crack began to leak uncontrollably.

To GothOcarina: If u read up on the subject in the WoW history database it says: "The damage caused by Illidan's spell had ruptured the Frozen Throne; thus, the Lich King was losing his power daily."-direct quote. This is in chapter five under the heading 'Civil War in the Plaguelands'
