Here's my take on why I THINK he's facing the back. I ASSUME that he probably has a problem with his hearing, maybe deaf? I don't know for sure, but I'm thinking that he is facing the speaker to feel the vibrations, making sure he's in tune and on key. Just an assumption though, I'm really not sure

Wonder if I'm the only one to check out The Go! Team based on the recommendation a couple comments below... It's just AWFUL, wow, didn't know something could sound so bad... At least I get to come back here and listen to the genius of TV on the Radio though :)

You know, it already has both. There is a music video and its super rad. And I honestly think that this Letterman performance of the song is immaculate. I can't even listen to the studio version anymore.

this song seriously needs a good music video, or a good live footage. it's amazing

If you want a good Rock/Rap combo, with clear Noise Pop influences then you won't go too wrong with The Go! Team. Which sticks the extremely poppy elements of old-school Hip Hop, with the distorted Wall of Sound that comes from Noise Rock.
Think De La Soul meets Sonic Youth.

It ain't just sick it's f'ing terminal. And like all great bands, they're even better live.

It's kinda nice how you got a sort of ladder for people who like rock who want to get into more experimental indie rock these days. As I see it the easiest place to start is Deerhunter, then you can move on to TOTR who are a bit braver and from there on there are multiple experimental bands to check out, like Liars and Animal Collective

I'm not a huge indie rap fan but i know Itunes has a podcast called indie spotlight and they have a couple episodes for rap and hip hop that have a playlist of about 10 or so songs each. it would be a good place to start
